Greatest Punk Song?
Punk music has always been an anti-establishment, anti-rules, anti-authoritarian rock genre and movement. Made popular in the 70s by bands like The Clash, Ramones, and Sex Pistols.
But, today while listening to my iPod and writing some crappy code no doubt the song Working Class Hero by John Lennon came on. I’ve always liked that song, next to Watching the Wheels it’s probably my favorite Lennon song. But it accord to me that Working Class Hero is such a punk song at its core!
So what do you say is the greatest punk song?

I’m not too much of a punk purist - it always seemed to base and too politically charged for me. I prefer subtlety and better musicianship, but I do like a handful of songs that would certainly be classified as punk.
Anarchy in the UK - Sex Pistols
Radio Clash - The Clash
London Calling - The Clash
When I Come Around - Green Day
I Want to be Sedated(sp?) - The Ramones
There must be a few more, but I’m drawing a blank.
Nice post - interesting question.

I’m not a huge Punk music lover either - but I like the pissed off screw everyone mentality behind it
After all, that’s why you should write music, to speak up against the establishment - to say what’s on your mind. Not all this pop crap we have today…

What about Joy Division? One of the most underrated punk bands of all time, in my opinion. The song “Decades” is killer.
