You might be a non-geek if…

A friend of mine recently had me over to install some additional memory in his system. After booting up his system one thing became painfully obvious to me. How to know that you’re not dealing with a ‘real’ computer user. If when your computer boots up a lot of apps ‘pop-up’ on your screen, that is a dead give away that you are not a geek.

If any applications automatically popped-up on my screen when I turned on my computer I would be SO PISSED!! If you are an application, you better not come up until I tell you to come up or you can say hello to my little friend!

I am in agreement with you there. I hate apps that by default start when windows starts. The first thing I do is look for a way to turn that off. Oh wait! Does this mean I am a geek?

Yes Ben, you are a geek ;)

your probably even more of a geek if you know that are apps that you actually want to load on start-up. (i use desktask and taskbar shuffle load on start-up on all my systems).

I too can’t stand applications that launch on startup, I usually have to mess around with my Sister’s computer whenever I pay her a visit just to get her computer under control. Dell especially makes it a pain to stop some of their own applications from loading on startup, I remember someone had created a “Dell Decrapifier” program to go through and delete all these useless apps.

I would never get a Dell these days, or an HP. They just come with too much crap pre-installed. It’s cheaper to just build it yourself from Newegg. You also then have a virgin computer, nothing on it that you didn’t put there yourself….

I do hear the Dell makes a good laptop computer still….
