Has American Idol Gone Too Far?

American Idol Like a moth to the light, I can’t help but watch American Idol. Granted I am usually surfing the web while watching, because if I were to get the full on effect it might do permanent brain damage.

When the show first aired it was fun to watch these people try and sing and just suck it up so bad. But, lately I can’t help feeling like American Idol is just making fun of retarded people and I no longer find myself laughing. It’s sad. These people aren’t dealing with a full deck and Idol is just putting them on stage for some cheap laughs. I think I may skip the show or at least wait for the talent to show up.

What do you guys think? Are you watching Idol or have you kicked the habit?

Idol is everything that is wrong with music . . . boycot it immediately!

Seriously, free up some time to spend with your gorgeous lil’ daughter, dude.

I don’t know, I still enjoy watching it. I admit, sometimes it seems just cruel to allow some of those contestants to be filmed during their audition, but that is what happens when you choose to be part of a reality show.

Then again, I am only partially paying attention as I too am either surfing the web or working on a project.

@ Ben, “Idol is everything that is wrong with music”

I know, I know - something about why do I do the things I don’t want to do and the things I want to do I don’t…

Yeah, I kicked the habit after the first two seasons. Now I only keep up with Amazing Race and Living with Ed.

I believe I will watch American Idol one more time. Every company that sponcers this show will no longer get my business. What Simon said to that young man …calling him a Bush baby…was beyond cruel!!

I never slipped into the habit, but I do enjoy watching the terrible acts. The producers purposely let these people slip through several rounds of auditions so I’m sure that bolsters their delusion of ability.

However, the musician in me appreciates skill and genuine ability, and anyone stepping onto American Idol in that much of a pathetic state is begging for a verbal beatdown from the trio.

I guess it’s like harmony in the universe… as much as I’d like to say that a train miraculously bouncing off of a drunk who stumbles onto a track is merciful to the drunk (except for all the people on the newly derailed train), the situation would still offend me due to the violation of laws of the universe. And I would be offended if people with delusional skill levels are not shaken from their delusion (as shaking is usually warranted by that stage of the delusion).

Howard Stern is taking it to far… Vote for the worst? Ok thats just stupid… American Idol is supposed to find good singers… and i know in the past some people have been bad.. for instance Taylor Hicks.. But Senjaya is horrible! He and his stupid hair styles should leave!

Howard Stern needs to stop.. now!
