Merry Christmas

Monday, December 25th, 2006

Merry Christmas all you savages! Thanks for a great year. See you in 2007!

Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the holy Spirit was upon him.

It had been revealed to him by the holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord.

He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying:

“Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.”

Iverson to the Nuggets

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

It’s reported today that the Denver Nuggets have traded Andre Miller, Joe Smith and two 2007 first-round picks to the 76ers for Allen Iverson.

Allen Iverson is one of the greatest basketball players of all time and next to MJ might be the most exciting player to watch play the game. In addition, I believe that he may be one of the greatest athletes of all time; the guy has super fast twitch muscle fibers
and I really enjoy watching him ball.

Having said that, I think this was a very bad trade. Who’s going to play the point for the Nuggets now? Boykins? Earl Boykins is not a point guard. Anyone who looks to shoot first and pass second can’t be your point guard. So that means AI will have to be your point guard. It’s not that AI can’t be the one guard, but I think he’s better in the two spot. But unless you want to stunt J.R. Smith’s growth, you can’t play him at the two.

You also gave up TWO FIRST ROUND picks in the 2007 draft. One of the deepest drafts in years. Good luck getting Greg Oden now.

Lastly, you now have three major bank players: K-Mart is so expensive Donald Trump wouldn’t touch him. Next you have Carmelo Anthony; well at least Melo is worth the money; when he’s not serving a suspension. And now you have AI, who is going to make $17 million this year, $19 million next year and $20 million in 2008. This leaves the Nugs little room to acquire anyone else in the future.

If you wanted to fill seats then this was a good move, if you want to win a championship then this was a bad move. Oh well, I guess I will just sit back and watch AI do his thing like everyone else.

What are your favorite Christmas albums?

For me, I prefer the old school stuff, that Trans-Siberian Orchestra stuff does nothing for me. Here are my favorite Christmas albums:

- Nat King Cole
