I have a friend who used to drink a liter of two a day and she had to quit cause her dentist said her teeth were becoming soft.

I know Coke and other soft drinks have Citric and Phosphoric Acid, which could eat away the enamel of your teeth - yet the exposure to the acids has to be pretty extreme. Then again, a liter or two a day would probably do it.
Thank goodness that the Russian lady didn’t see any ads for a McDonald’s contest, she would probably be dead by now!
